An Overview of Chemical Pesticide Import in Nepal

In 2021, this study has attempted to analyze the trend of pesticide import over two decades in Nepal. Secondary data obtained from Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center were analyzed know trend. The result showed that pesticides was increasing average annual increase 30.48 tons (a.i.) last twenty-two years. Fungicide had highest followed by insecticide, herbicide these three groups comprised more than 90% import. fungicide, herbicide, organophosphate, mix group while rodenticide, bactericide decreasing synthetic pyrethroid, carbamates, some new like nicotinoids been recent Although chemical huge amount; biopesticide also seems be use is still low Nepal as compared global or other countries however, effects its are greater hazardous which indicates need for strong policy implementation safe pesticides.
